Get ready for some serious fun! Take a week (or more!) to do what you love the most! Our specialty camps give campers the chance to focus on a topic or skill with the benefits of being in a fun camp environment. Choose from sports specialties, arts exploration, horseback riding to eating adventures and more. Or, cap the summer off performing in our fabulous spotlight play. You can even mix some specialty camps with classic camp for an exciting summer experience.
New this year:  Your child will start the morning with our awesome Specialty Camp Pros and continue the fun in the afternoons with free swim and engaging and exciting activities lead by our fantastic councelors.  Please see pecialty camp descriptions below for details and participation minimums.

  • Week 1: June 18 - 22

    • 1.) Butwin Buckaroos
      Experience the joys of horseback riding at the Butwin Corral! Buckaroo campers are led by experienced equestrian staff in a progressively structured program providing a fun experience of interacting with gentle horses including hands-on learning, grooming and riding. This camp fills up fast! Maximum of 12 campers.

    • 2.) Sports Mix
      Skyhawks will lead us through a week of baseball, golf, track & field, and more! Athletes will learn the rules and essentials of each sport through skill-based games and scrimmages. By the end of the week, your child will walk away with knowledge of (2 or 3) new sports along with vital life lessons such as respect, teamwork, and self-discipline. Minimum of 10 campers, maximum of 25 campers.

    • 3.) Camp K9
      Get ready for an awesome week working, learning and playing with dogs! Our partners at Canine Inspired Change will bring their therapy dogs out to the Butwin grounds where we will do agility and dog training, teach the dogs to do puzzles, and learn dog-inspired meditation. Canine Inspired Change believes in the power of love over hate, and through their dogs we can access the power of love. Not only can dogs inspire love between a child and the animal, but they foster positive relationships between humans. After our agility sessions with the dogs, we will play games like dog bingo (with dogs!) and reflect on what we have learned and experienced each morning. Maximum of 15 campers.
  • Week 2: June 25 - June 29

    • 1.) Butwin Buckaroos
      Experience the joys of horseback riding at the Butwin Corral! Buckaroo campers are led by experienced equestrian staff in a progressively structured program providing a fun experience of interacting with gentle horses including hands-on learning, grooming and riding. Maximum of 12 campers.

    • 2.) Bullseye Archery
      Learn to handle a bow and arrow like a champion and hit that bullseye at our archery camp. Lead by esteemed certified instructors from Average Joe’s Archery, this camp promises to build self-confidence, instill good sportsmanship and teach the fundamentals of archery. Minimum of 10 campers, maximum of 20 campers.

    • 3.) Mess to the Max Art Camp
      We will be maximizing the mess to make this art camp the very best! Join us and the esteemed KidsCreate Studio and get excited to paint with plaster, sculpt with gooey gunk, make papier mache puppies, and fling paint like Jackson Pollock. We will even learn some cool stuff along the way. These projects are so messy your mom would never let you make them at home! Minimum of 10 campers, maximum of 20 campers.

    • 4.) Butwin Explorers (Gr 6-8 Only)
      This weeklong camp includes a 3-day/2-night camping trip exploring the gorgeous Lake Superior Hiking Trail. Trek the Superior Hiking Trail along the North Shore of Lake Superior, showcasing waterfalls, rapids, and gorges as it winds through Minnesota’s Northwoods and spend the nights camping at state parks. The highly trained staff at Wilderness Inquiry will guide us as we camp along the way! You bring the sleeping bag and other personal needs, we’ll provide all the equipment and food. Minimum of 6 campers, maximum of 15 campers.
  • Week 3: July 2 - July 6

    • 1.) Butwin Buckaroos
      Experience the joys of horseback riding at the Butwin Corral! Buckaroo campers are led by experienced equestrian staff in a progressively structured program providing a fun experience of interacting with gentle horses including hands-on learning, grooming and riding. Maximum of 12 campers.

    • 2.) Soccer Champions
      GOOOOOALLLLLL! This camp provides innovative approaches to coaching youth soccer with highly-experienced soccer pros. Learn teamwork, ball handling skills, tricks, and scrimmages. Participants receive a ball and t-shirt at the end of the week. Minimum of 10 campers, maximum of 25 campers.

    • 3.) Play with Northern Clay
      This week we will work with the artists from the esteemed Northern Clay Center. We will learn different techniques as we create functional and sculptural objects out of clay. We will spend time decorating our pieces, and even get to try working with more than one type of clay! Then, Northern Clay Center will fire our projects for us so we can treasure them forever! Minimum of 8 campers, maximum of 20 campers.

  • Week 4: July 9 - 13

    • 1.) Butwin Buckaroos
      Experience the joys of horseback riding at the Butwin Corral! Buckaroo campers are led by experienced equestrian staff in a progressively structured program providing a fun experience of interacting with gentle horses including hands-on learning, grooming and riding. Maximum of 12 campers.

    • 2.) Flag Football
      Flag Football is the perfect introduction to “America’s Game.” Campers learn skills on both sides of the football including the core components of passing, catching, and defense – all presented in a fun and positive environment. The week ends with the Skyhawks Super Bowl, giving participants a chance to showcase their skills on the gridiron! Participants receive a t-shirt, football, and player evaluation. Minimum of 10 campers, maximum of 25 campers.

    • 3.) Just KIDding Improv
      Join us and Just KIDing Improv for a week of laughing, confidence building, and creativity. Kids will have fun and play while learning valuable skills in: creative thinking, listening, problem solving, self-awareness, team building, focus and collaboration. Students play improv games and will practice exercises in scene work and characters. They will learn that by saying “Yes and…" opens you up to a whole lot of new adventuress, not only in performing, but also in life. Students will also learn theater basics, as well as basic performing skills. Join us for this laughter-filled camp! Minimum of 10 campers, maximum of 20 campers.
  • Week 5: July 16 - 20

    • 1.) Butwin Buckaroos
      Experience the joys of horseback riding at the Butwin Corral! Buckaroo campers are led by experienced equestrian staff in a progressively structured program providing a fun experience of interacting with gentle horses including hands-on learning, grooming and riding. Maximum of 12 campers.

    • 2.) Engineering for Kids
      Engineering For Kids will bring us science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) in a fun and challenging way. We will inspire campers to build on their natural curiosity by teaching engineering concepts through hands-on learning. Engineering is, after all, one of the fastest growing industries in the world! From experimenting with oil in “slick solutions”, to understanding the engineering behind the bridges we cross in our cars every day, this camp is sure to inspire and captivate us! Minimum of 10 campers, maximum of 20 campers.

    • 3.) Masters on Canvas
      Join us and KidsCreate Studio and get inspired by art created by Vincent Van Gogh, Claude Monet, Henry Matisse and Pablo Picasso. We will recreate famous works of art like Van Gogh’s Sunflowers, Monet’s Water Lilies, Matisse’s The Flight of Icarus and many others, all on real canvas boards. Make room on your walls! Your child is going to be very proud of these masterpieces! Minimum of 10 campers, maximum of 20 campers.

  • Week 6: July 23 - 27

    • 1.) Butwin Buckaroos
      Experience the joys of horseback riding at the Butwin Corral! Buckaroo campers are led by experienced equestrian staff in a progressively structured program providing a fun experience of interacting with gentle horses including hands-on learning, grooming and riding. Maximum of 12 campers.

    • 2.) Sports Mix
      Skyhawks will lead us through a week of Ultimate Frisbee, flag football, track & field, and more! Athletes will learn the rules and essentials of each sport through skill-based games and scrimmages. By the end of the week, your child will walk away with knowledge of (2 or 3) new sports along with vital life lessons such as respect, teamwork, and self- discipline. Minimum of 10 campers, maximum of 25 campers.

    • 3.) Camp K9

      These projects will ROCK your camper’s world long after the lights go out at night. You guessed it, all the project we create in this camp will glow-in-the-dark! How cool is that?!?! Teaming up with KidsCreate Studio, we will be working with a variety of different art supplies including clay, paint, and luminescent materials to create masterpieces your child will be ready to show off in the dark! Minimum of 10 campers, maximum of 20 campers.
  • Week 8: August 6 - 10

    • 1.) Butwin Buckaroos
      Experience the joys of horseback riding at the Butwin Corral! Buckaroo campers are led by experienced equestrian staff in a progressively structured program providing a fun experience of interacting with gentle horses including hands-on learning, grooming and riding. Maximum of 12 campers.

    • 2.) Basketball
      Skyhawks brings us this fun, skill-intensive program that’s designed for beginning to intermediate players. An active week of passing, shooting, dribbling, and rebounding makes this one of Skyhawks most popular programs. Campers will begin their day on the courts at the JCC and bussed out to camp for afternoon activities. Participants receive a t-shirt, basketball, and player evaluation. Minimum of 10 campers, maximum of 25 campers.

    • 3.) Green Thumb Gardeners
      Learn to be an expert gardener! Join us and our garden experts from A Backyard Farm for a week of planting, learning all about composting, harvesting and creating simple food preparation from veggies we pick from our very own Butwin garden! Minimum of 10 campers, maximum of 20 campers.
