Get ready for some serious fun! Take a week (or more!) to do what you love the most! Our specialty camps give campers the chance to focus on a topic or skill with the benefits of being in a fun camp environment. Choose from sports specialties, arts exploration, and horseback riding to eating adventures and more. You can even mix some specialty camps with classic camp for an exciting summer experience.
New this year:  Your child will start the morning with our awesome Specialty Camp Pros and continue the fun in the afternoons with free swim and engaging and exciting activities lead by our fantastic councelors.  Please see specialty camp descriptions below for details and participation minimums.

  • Week 1: June 17 - 21

    • 1.) Butwin Buckaroos
      Experience the joys of horseback riding at the Butwin Corral! Buckaroo campers are led by experienced equestrian staff in a progressively structured program providing a fun experience of interacting with gentle horses including hands-on learning, grooming and riding. This camp fills up fast! Maximum of 12 campers.

    • 2.) Freestyle Soccer with Jogo Bonita
      Soccer lovers, get ready to expand your soccer skills in a training camp like no other. Campers can expect to learn new skills and tricks, enhance their current skills, and scrimmage in a friendly and competitive atmosphere. Minimum of 10, maximum of 20 campers

    • 3.) Found Object Arts
      Using found and repurposed items, campers will create masterpieces in a variety of styles while learning the importance of reduce, reuse, and recycle. This camp is for campers who love art AND the environment! Minimum of 10, maximum of 20 campers

  • Week 2: June 24 - June 28

    • 1.) Butwin Buckaroos
      Experience the joys of horseback riding at the Butwin Corral! Buckaroo campers are led by experienced equestrian staff in a progressively structured program providing a fun experience of interacting with gentle horses including hands-on learning, grooming and riding. Maximum of 12 campers.

    • 2.) Flag Football
      Flag Football is the perfect introduction to “America’s Game.” Campers learn skills on both sides of the football including the core components of passing, catching, and defense – all presented in a fun and positive environment. Minimum of 10 campers, maximum of 25 campers.

    • 3.) Camp K9
      Get ready for an awesome week working, learning and playing with dogs! Our partners at Canine Inspired Change will bring their therapy dogs out to the Butwin grounds where we will do agility and dog training, teach the dogs to do puzzles, and learn dog-inspired meditation. Canine Inspired Change believes in the power of love over hate, and through their dogs we can access the power of love. Not only can dogs inspire love between a child and the animal, but they foster positive relationships between humans. After our agility sessions with the dogs, we will play games like dog bingo (with dogs!) and reflect on what we have learned and experienced each morning. Maximum of 15 campers.
  • Week 3: July 1 - July 5

    • 1.) Butwin Buckaroos
      Experience the joys of horseback riding at the Butwin Corral! Buckaroo campers are led by experienced equestrian staff in a progressively structured program providing a fun experience of interacting with gentle horses including hands-on learning, grooming and riding. Maximum of 12 campers.

    • 2.) Sports Mix: Field Favorites
      Get ready to spend your 4th of July week focusing on all of your favorite field sports (and a few new ones). Campers will play classics like soccer and football, enjoy camp favorites like Capture the Flag and Kickball, and try their hands at fun backyard-style lawn games! Minimum 10, Maximum 25 campers.

    • 3.) Mad About the Masters
      Go mad for the masters in this fun-filled and educational class! We will recreate famous works of art like Van Gogh’s Sunflowers, da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, Degas’ Ballerinas and many others all while using a variety of different art materials and techniques. We’ll even make a snow globe inspired by Van Gogh’s Starry Night! These magnificent works of art are sure to inspire your young artist! Minimum 10, maximum 20 campers

  • Week 4: July 8 - 12

    • 1.) Butwin Buckaroos Level 2
      For our more seasoned Butwin Buckaroos, this camp skips the basics and jumps right into trail rides, as well as a focus on more advanced horse care skills. Campers must have previously attended at least one week of Butwin Buckaroos during summer 2018 or summer 2019.

    • 2.) Bullseye Archery
      Learn to handle a bow and arrow like a champion and hit that bullseye at our archery camp. Lead by esteemed certified instructors from Average Joe’s Archery, this camp promises to build self-confidence, instill good sportsmanship and teach the fundamentals of archery. Minimum of 10 campers, maximum of 20 campers.

    • 3.) Camp K9
      Get ready for an awesome week working, learning and playing with dogs! Our partners at Canine Inspired Change will bring their therapy dogs out to the Butwin grounds where we will do agility and dog training, teach the dogs to do puzzles, and learn dog-inspired meditation. Canine Inspired Change believes in the power of love over hate, and through their dogs we can access the power of love. Not only can dogs inspire love between a child and the animal, but they foster positive relationships between humans.   • Week 5: July 15 - 19

    • 1.) Butwin Buckaroos
      Experience the joys of horseback riding at the Butwin Corral! Buckaroo campers are led by experienced equestrian staff in a progressively structured program providing a fun experience of interacting with gentle horses including hands-on learning, grooming and riding. Maximum of 12 campers.

    • 2.) Survivor: Wilderness Skills
      An exciting camp that will teach campers the skills they need to thrive in the great outdoors. Basics of orienteering, campfire building and cooking, plant identification, shelter building, and more. In partnership with our friends at Lebanon Hills Regional Park

    • 3.) Play! with Northern Clay
      This week we will work with the artists from the esteemed Northern Clay Center. We will learn different techniques as we create functional and sculptural objects out of clay. We will spend time decorating our pieces, and even get to try working with more than one type of clay! Then, Northern Clay Center will fire our projects for us so we can treasure them forever! Minimum of 8 campers, maximum of 20 campers.

  • Week 6: July 22 - 26

    • 1.) Butwin Buckaroos
      Experience the joys of horseback riding at the Butwin Corral! Buckaroo campers are led by experienced equestrian staff in a progressively structured program providing a fun experience of interacting with gentle horses including hands-on learning, grooming and riding. Maximum of 12 campers.

    • 2.) HomeSlice Puppetry Masters
      Learn the fundamentals of puppetry with renowned Puppet Master Eric Weiss of HomeSlice puppets. Campers will create their own puppets and characters, and bring them to life!

    • 3.) Camp K9
      Get ready for an awesome week working, learning and playing with dogs!       Experience the joys of horseback riding at the Butwin Corral! Buckaroo campers are led by experienced equestrian staff in a progressively structured program providing a fun experience of interacting with gentle horses including hands-on learning, grooming and riding. Maximum of 12 campers.

    • 3.) SAORI Weaving and Textile Crafts
      Over the past few summers, SAORI weaving has been a favorite once-per-summer activity at Camp Butwin. This year, we are excited to offer a full specialty camp. SAORI weaving is not merely the act of weaving a piece of cloth; it is an attempt to identify our true selves. This therapeutic way of weaving heals you from your busy daily lives because SAORI is free-style weaving. Campers will sample other textile crafts as well! Minimum of 10 campers, maximum of 15 campers.
  • Week 8: August 5 - 9

    • 1.) Butwin Buckaroos Level 2

    • 2.) Ultimate Disc Sports
      Disc sports are bigger than ever. In this camp, campers will learn and play ultimate Frisbee at the sports field, and design a disc golf course to enjoy around camp. Fore!

    • 3.) Farm to Table Gardeners
      Learn to be an expert gardener! Join us and our garden experts from A Backyard Farm for a week of planting, learning all about composting, harvesting and creating simple food preparation from veggies we pick from our very own Butwin garden! Minimum of 10 campers.
